I grew up in the 70’s loving the cartoon “Fat Albert”. It showed me that a group of teenagers can and will stand up for the rights of others.

Fat Albert was always trying to help others and make them happy, even if that meant Fat Albert getting into trouble. When this movie came out I was a little skeptical on whether it was going to be worth watching or not. But knowing that I loved Fat Albert as a kid, I felt it was only right to give the movie a shot. It is not the same as the cartoon but it is well written with a knowledgeable plot.

Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids step out of their animated inner-city Philadelphia world and come to life by a single teardrop dripping down onto a remote control. Doris Robertson’s (Pratt) tear falls onto her television remote while watching a cartoon of Fat Albert. In the animated world Fat Albert sees a wave of color when the tear hits. They dive through the TV during their show to find Doris upset. Fat Albert realizes that his mission is to help Doris find some good friends and he will not stop until he knows that Doris is happy. They have to follow Doris everywhere she goes including a party while waiting for the next show to come on so they can magically go through the TV once more. During this time of searching for friends, Fat Albert (Thompson), Dumb Donald (Houston), Mushmouth (Williams), Bill (Robinson), Weird Harold (Fraizer), Rudy (Anderson III), and Bucky (McAuley) begin to fade away. They need to get back to their animated world before completely fading, but Fat Albert has fallen madly in love with Doris’ gorgeous foster sister Lauri (Ramirez). Will they make it back to the 1970s television series before fading?
