Sitting down to listen to the CD “Nine Sleepless Nights” by Ronnie Day makes me think along the lines of love and passion. The passion that he has incorporated into his music and the love of the songs shine through his voice as he sings.
Most musicians in today’s society sing intellectually, but they have no clue to the true feelings of music. This is not Ronnie’s case though, his songs are sung from the heart! A heart that can make a grumbler turn endearing. There is no turning back. Once you have heard his work you will want to hear more.
I am rather amazed at the courage, dedication and strength that this 17 year old has. On this album Ronnie is featured playing the guitar, bass, piano, violin and even some trumpet. Every song on the Nine Sleepless Nights CD was written, sung, produced and engineered by Ronnie. He established Ronnie Day Records in order to release this CD by him as well. This young man has put every effort he has into making this a wonderful and realistic album that will turn many heads, especially women. His outlook mixed with magnificent and sharp writing skills will make most people turn back to the love music that they miss. His songs put me in mind of Tom Petty with the writings of life. Such as Ronnie’s writing in the song “Ever and After”, where he sings the part “I don’t need their double standards, all I need is you and I’ll get through because sitting here, without a cent, I feel rich next to you”.
Although Ronnie still has a way to go, I don’t think it will be long before everyone will hear his music and ask for more. In my opinion he will be our next alternative music STAR!!
